October Review

Posted on

October in the Adirondacks. While the fall/autumn leaves hit their peak a little late this year because of the warmer-than-usual weather, it was perfect timing; because, in my opinion, the peak was Columbus Day weekend, which really worked out for us. We couldn’t believe we had a weekend equivalent to and August weekend. So many people were in town to see the leaves and enjoy the crisp fall Adirondack air.

How are we doing on wines? We’re finally catching up. We’re phasing out other people’s wines bit-by-bit so that we only have crowd favorites left. Over the next couple months we’ll add more and more of our wines until we finally build up our full stock. And then we’ll start acquiring local restaurant accounts.

The newest wine we finished is Red Carriage, which has a picture of a family on a horse-drawn carriage ride, a must-do in Lake George. The wine is a cranberry Chianti – and is a great pairing with Thanksgiving Dinner! Also, we’re now accepting pre-orders of our newest limited edition dessert wines, which people seem really excited about: Wintery Symphony (white chocolate port) and Calm After the Storm (chocolate orange port). We’re holding our first event this upcoming Tuesday, October 21. We’ve actually piggy-backed on an existing after hours mixer that raises money for the Lake George Chamber of Commerce. Hosted by the Hampton Inn & Suites, the event is title “Decadent Desserts” and features scrumptious desserts made by many local businesses, and then our dessert wines, as well as some red and white wines, are paired up with the desserts.

So, we are really anticipating a slow down now. We’re still keeping full hours through October, but from Nov-March our plan is to be open Thurs-Fri 12-7, Sat 11-7 and Sun 12-6.

Hope you’re all enjoying the fall, despite all the turmoil surrounding the economy and the election!
