Adirondack Winery Introduces a New Wine: Cabernet Franc

Posted on Updated on

LAKE GEORGE, NY (August 6, 2009): Adirondack Winery, Warren County, New York’s first winery, is pleased to introduce a brand new wine to its list: Cabernet Franc. Since introducing this new wine, Adirondack Winery’s wine list now includes 34 different wines, encompassing white wines, red wines, fruity wines and dessert wines.

Adirondack Winery’s Cabernet Franc is a medium bodied, plum-colored red wine offering a peppery perfume that combines with tones of raspberry, violets and tobacco, ending with a smooth finish. Adirondack Winery recommends pairing this Cabernet Franc with a variety of meats including Chicken, Duck, Ham, Pork, Veal, or Venison, as well as tomato-based pizza or pasta dishes, and Mediterranean cuisine. Ideal cheese pairings include Sharp Cheddar, Brie, Blue, Gorgonzola,Fontina, Goat Cheese, and Swiss. Adirondack Winery’s Cabernet Franc comes in a 750ml bottle and contains approximately 13.5% alchohol by volume.

To make this wine, Michael Pardy, Adirondack Winery’s wine maker and CEO, started from grape must sourced from the Lockeford-Clements grape growing region of California. Applying his own formula, Pardy brewed this red wine in a stainless steel tank, which after aging, made Adirondack Winery’s “Cab Franc” into the wine it is today.

The label photograph on Adirondack Winery’s Cabernet Franc features a view of Lake George from the historic Battlefield Park, taken just as twilight was falling on an October day in 2008. Adirondack Winery president and co-owner, Sasha Pardy, took this photograph and designed the wine label, as she does all of Adirondack Winery’s wines. “We are proud that we are able to translate the beauty of Autumn in Lake George through our wine labels. Our winery customers frequently save these empty bottles as souvenirs of their visit to the area,” said Sasha. Adirondack Winery recently won an award at the New York State Wine Labeling and Packaging Competition for a series of its wine labels featuring Autumn scenery in Lake George and Queensbury (for details on that, click here.) All of Adirondack Winery’s wine labels feature photographs of landscapes and landmarks in the local region.

Adirondack Winery opened its doors on April 17, 2008 as the region’s first micro-winery. The owners, Michael & Sasha Pardy are available for interviews upon request by calling 518-668-WINE or emailing at Images of the winery are available here:
