Adirondack Winery's Pinot Grigio and Semillon took Gold at this year's competition!

LAKE GEORGE, NY (April 23, 2011):  Adirondack Winery is proud to announce that two of its wines earned Gold medals at the recent Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, while three wines earned Silver. This is the first time Adirondack Winery has earned gold medals for any of its wines since it began entering competitions in mid-2009.

Adirondack Winery’s Pinot Grigio and Semillon wines took Gold honors at the 2011 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, which was held March 26th in Rochester, NY to benefit Camp Good Days. “This is the third year in a row we’ve entered some of our wines in this competition, and while we’ve taken home several silver medals in the past, we’re particularly pleased to earn Gold this year, as competition was steeper than last year,” said Adirondack Winery President, Sasha Pardy. The Pardy’s wines were evaluated alongside 3,259 wines from 788 wineries across 19 nations.

Adirondack Winery’s Pinot Noir, Barbera, and Strawsling (Strawberry Riesling) also earned Silver medals at this competition. This is fourth Silver medal for its Pinot Noir, second
Silver for its Strawsling, and first Silver for its Barbera. To date, 19 of Adirondack Winery’s wines have earned 35 medals at International wine competitions.

To create these wines, Michael Pardy, Adirondack Winery’s CEO and wine maker, sources high quality grape must from California. The wines are brewed at the Pardy’s newly relocated and expanded wine making facility in Queensbury. The Gold medal-winning Pinot Grigio, a semi-dry crisp white wine, is more flavorful than many on the market, marked by its floral, smoky, honey-tinged tones. Typically used as a blending grape, Pardy elected to add Semillon to its dry white wine list as a stand-alone wine — earning Gold, it is now a stand-out for

The wine labels on these award winning wines were created by Sasha Pardy and feature photographs of landscapes and landmarks of the local region. The Pinot Grigio features boats parked along the Lake George Shepard Park Boardwalk in Lake George, the Semillon features a bright sunny day at Roger’s Park Beach in Bolton Landing, the Pinot Noir features
Rockwell Falls in Lake Luzerne; the Barbera features the night lights reflecting on Lake George on the 4th of July, and the Strawsling features the strawberry hot air balloon and a few others up in the air at the Adirondack Balloon Festival.

ADIRONDACK WINERY’S SECOND ANNIVERSARY IS MET WITH THREE AWARDS FOR ITS WINES

LAKE GEORGE, NY (April 5, 2010):  Not only is Adirondack Winery celebrating its second Anniversary this month, but it is also pleased to announce that three of its wines won awards at the recently-held 2010 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition.

Adirondack Winery’s Cabernet Franc took a Silver Medal at the Competition, while its Rocky Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc took home Bronze Medals.

“We couldn’t be happier that the milestone of completing our second successful year in business has also been met with news of three of our wines earning medals. To date, 10 of our wines have won medals, even though we have entered only a handful of competitions. Fortunately, our wine drinkers are showing that they agree with the judges, as we are enjoying a seemingly ever-expanding base of loyal customers,” said Adirondack Winery President, Sasha Pardy.

Adirondack Winery wine-maker and CEO, Michael Pardy, crafted Adirondack Winery’s silver-medal winning Cabernet Franc starting from grape must sourced from a vineyard in the Lodi Region of California. His techniques produced a medium-bodied, plum-colored, smooth red wine offering a peppery perfume and fresh raspberry flavor, as well as understated tones of violets and tobacco.

The wine label on Adirondack Winery’s Cabernet Franc features a gorgeous photograph of Lake George’s Battlefield Park in autumn (label photo below, attached), taken by Sasha Pardy. In fact, all of Adirondack Winery’s wine labels feature photography of landscapes, landmarks and events of the local Adirondacks region.

Adirondack Winery’s bronze-medal winning Sauvignon Blanc is a well-balanced, full-bodied dry white wine that is crisp and luscious, carrying understated grapefruit and herbaceous tones. The Sauvignon Blanc label features a photograph of the view of Lake George from Shepard Park in autumn.

Adirondack Winery’s bronze-medal winning Rocky Shiraz is a soft and supple red wine with a ripe black plum character that offers a subtle but persistent spice with just a hint of cocoa. The Rocky Shiraz label features a photograph of the colorful bedrocks at the Pottersville Bridges & Caves in Pottersville, NY.

Hi everyone! First, I would like to start with it’s been way to long since my last post! In fact, it’s been so long that I can’t even remember when it was, so I thought I would give a bit of a recap of life at the winery these days.

It’s Summer (sort of), so we are now open 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. While this makes for some really long days for us, we are thrilled customers are coming in during all those hours! As some of you may know, when you locate any business in a seasonal tourist town, if the people are here, you need to be open!

The good news is that our business is holding up pretty well – we have been battling both the economy and maybe even more important — the weather! We can’t do much about either, so with a little planning and some creativity, we have been able to survive pretty well.

We are always asked about new wines, and we do have plans for a couple of more this year. Unfortunatly, in order to accomodate these new wines, we will be allowing a few of our wines to sell out. But don’t fret – if one of your favorite wines sells out; it will be brought back at various times of the year, so you will still have the chance to purchase them. Keep checking back here for updates on our new wines, or even better, join our Inner Circle email newsletter list to hear about new and returning wines (and other good stuff) directly in your inbox! We are not ready yet to announce new wines, but the first one will be announced shortly.

Recently, we won some awards for our wines and our wine labels. We were very happy to see that our Chardonnay won Bronze at the International Finger Lakes Wine Competition and our Pinot Noir won Silver at the International Eastern Wine Competion. Of Course, we are proud to have won and hope there will be many more to come! Also our series of labels featuring Autumn scenes in Lake George (Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, and Viognier) won an Honorable Mention (equivalant to second place) at the Roses and Sonnenberg Label Competion.

Also, we’re happy to say that there are a number of area restaurants that are now offering our wines on their menus including: The Lake George Steamboat Company, The Boardwalk Restaurant, The Tamarack Inn, The Olde Mill Cafe, Mama Riso’s, Adirondack Brew Pub, and Davidson Bros. Brewery! Please be sure to support these great establishments and have a glass of wine while you’re there!

For those of you in the Danbury, CT area or in Dutchess County, Caffrey’s Wine and Spirits in Fishkill NY is the sole wine store we currently have; and we’ve already heard feedback that are customers are visiting the store to buy our wines and we hope its close enough for some CT residents to make the trip! If you’d like to see us in a wine store near you, the best way to make it happen is for our customers to request the wine store owner order our wines, so we definitely welcome your assistance in that category!

Well, that is about it for today and I really am sorry for the long break, I will try really hard to post at least 2 times a month during the summer and fall. Until next time have a great week!

– Mike
