Summer is here and we have so much to look forward to! From getting to see all of your sun-tanned faces back in our store to new seasonal wines and exciting wine-tasting events; we have one fun-filled summer ahead of us!

While most of you know about and are looking forward to the return of Mellow Blush, our Watermelon White Merlot (which just hit shelves, by the way!), we have a few new surprises in store for you this year! We will be introducing Musical Medley,  a limited-edition, tropical fruit Chardonnay! A large portion of the profits from this wine will benefit the Lake George Community Band, so now you have an extra reason to feel good about drinking Adirondack Winery wine!

We are also excited to announce that we will be selling our Pinot Grigio, Prospect Mountain White and Fireworks Red Merlot in convenient Astrapouches this summer! Astrapouches hold two, 750ml bottles of wine and can be re-sealed to maintain freshness over a longer period of time. This means you can now take Adirondack Winery wine with you out on your boat, to barbeques and picnics, and even the racetrack without the worry of a glass bottle. Just throw the Astrapouch in your cooler and go! Astrapouches hit shelves soon and will be sold in-store only, so make sure you plan your visit(s) to Adirondack Winery early this summer!

If all of this wasn’t exciting enough for you, Adirondack Winery is also introducing a Summer Happy Hour Series! Every Wednesday from June 20th – July 25th (excluding July 4th) will be Wine Wednesday at Adirondack Winery from 4pm – 7pm. During these times we will be whipping up some delicious, wine cocktails and providing samples to all customers who purchase a regular wine tasting during that time. We will also be passing out recipe cards so you can make these fun, summer drinks at home! Any ingredients and store products used in the recipes will be an additional 10% off during that time, so you won’t want to miss out!

Like I said, this is going to be one fun, wine-filled summer! The fun starts this weekend with the annual Elvis Festival, followed by Americade next weekend and don’t forget the Big Apple Circus comes to town in July! Be sure to keep checking our events page as well as LakeGeorge.com for a full list of Lake George and Adirondack Winery events this summer!

Cheers!

Whether you attended our party and are craving more, or you missed out this year and want to see what all the fuss was about, you can now try one (or all) of our wine-infused recipes at home! With Chardonnay Macaroni and Cheese, Shrimp in White Wine & Garlic Butter, wine-infused Cake Balls, and Merlot Strawberries recipes at your fingertips, you will be able to throw your own Adirondack Winery, wine-themed party!

With prizes such as an overnight stay at the Georgian Lakeside Resort, a gift certificate to the Great Escape Lodge and the Log Jam Restaurant, a membership to our wine club and so many other great giveaways, this year’s party was not one to be missed. We had just as much fun as our guests did with games like Count the Corks, Guess That Wine, and our Adirondack Winery trivia game! With each year getting better and better, you will want to mark your calendar for next year!

While our evening event was limited to a select few, our free daytime events were open to everyone and kept the party going all weekend! We had free wine tastings along with Lake Champlain chocolate and Adirondack Cheese Company cheeses. A big “thank you” to Adirondack Cheese Company for joining us and providing samples of all of their delicious cheeses!

With four years under our belt, year five is looking pretty promising. We are looking forward to the summer and to seeing both familiar faces and new ones come through our door! So, Cheers to four years and many, many more!

LAKE GEORGE, NY (March 2, 2011):  Adirondack Winery is proud to announce that four of its wines recently earned Silver medals at International Wine Competitions.

Adirondack Winery’s Pinot Noir was awarded a Silver Medal at the 2011 International Pinot Noir Shootout, which is held each year in Chicago.  The Pinot Noir Shootout is a three month long competitive wine tasting, where a judging panel of about 40 Pinot Noir loving wine professionals taste approximately 300 different Pinot Noirs submitted by wineries from around the world. Needless to say, we are very pleased that our Pinot Noir stood strong among these wines, being awarded a Silver medal. This is the fourth medal our Pinot Noir has earned in the three years we’ve been making the wine. It also earned a Silver at the 2010 World Value Wine Challenge, Silver at the 2009 International Eastern Wine Competition, and a Bronze Medal at the 2010 Indy International Wine Competition.

Adirondack Winery’s Fireworks Red Merlot, Blue Twilight (Blueberry Shiraz) and Strawsling (Strawberry Riesling) all earned Silver Medals at the 23rd Annual Florida State Fair International Wine Competition, which was held in February. Additionally, our Chardonnay earned a Bronze Medal. At this competition, Adirondack Winery’s wines were judged alongside more than 1,000 other wines submitted by wineries from around the world.

“Each year, we enter a few of our wines in a small handful of wine competitions, so we are very pleased to earn four Silver Medals and one Bronze for our wines, when such steep competition is involved,” said Adirondack Winery President, Sasha Pardy. With these latest medal wins, 19 of Adirondack Winery’s wines have earned 30 medals to date.

Adirondack Winery CEO and wine maker, Michael Pardy, sources high quality grape must from California to create our Pinot Noir; which is fermented in stainless steel tanks, is light on tannins and oak, has moderate alcohol and lots of raspberry and black currant tones. The Strawsling and Blue Twilight are also born from California grapes; but Pardy adds natural strawberry and blueberry fruit product to the Riesling and Merlot to create these two semi-sweet, low alcohol, enjoyable fruity wines. The Fireworks Red Merlot is a fruit forward Merlot with medium body and oakiness – a great wine for those just getting into reds.

The wine labels on these award winning wines were created by Sasha Pardy and feature photographs of landscapes and landmarks of the local region. The Pinot Noir features a photograph of Rockwell Falls in Lake Luzerne; the Fireworks Red Merlot features the summer fireworks going off over Lake George; the Strawsling features the strawberry hot air balloon and a few others up in the air at the Adirondack Balloon Festival; the Blue Twilight features the sun breaking through on a cloudy Adirondack summer day; and the Chardonnay features a Blais Park in Lake George.

ADIRONDACK WINERY AWARDED SIX MEDALS AT THE 2009 WORLD VALUE WINE CHALLENGE

LAKE GEORGE , NY (October 12, 2009):  Adirondack Winery is proud to announce that six of its hand-crafted wines earned medals at the 2009 World Value Wine Challenge.
The World Value Wine Challenge (“WVWC”); which took place in August 2009 and was put on by the Beverage Testing Institute, is recognized as the nation’s most comprehensive competition for wines $20 and under. With value on the top of everyone’s mind in this recession, this year’s competition was steep for wineries and drew much attention.
Adirondack Winery President, Sasha Pardy said, “Adirondack Winery is pleased to provide its customers not only with great wines, but good value, as the vast majority of its 35+ wine varieties are priced at $20 or less.”

Adirondack Winery’s Chardonnay won a Silver Medal (a.k.a. Highly Recommended) at the WVWC, while five additional Adirondack Winery wines were awarded Bronze Medals (a.k.a. Recommended): Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Red Barn (Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon), Fireworks Red Merlot, and Barbera.

The WVWC judges described Adirondack Winery’s Chardonnay as having a “Rich, golden color and offering aromas of pineapple, ripe kiwi, butter cream, and spun honey following through on a round, satiny entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body with nice layers of citrus, praline, and spice.” Adirondack Winery CEO and wine maker, Michael Pardy, sources grape must from the Woodbridge , California area to create this Chardonnay – it is lightly oaked and aged in stainless steel drums. Pardy’s Chardonnay also won a Bronze Medal at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition earlier this year.

The WVWC judges described Adirondack Winery’s Bronze Medal-Winning Riesling as “lush”, its Red Barn Cabernet Sauvignon as “deep”, its Pinot Grigio as “soft and breezy”, its Barbera as “raisiny”, and its Fireworks Red Merlot as embodying brown spice and herbs.

The wine labels on these award winning wines, which were created by Sasha Pardy, feature photographs of landscapes, landmarks and special events of the local region (find label pictures at end of this release):
  • Chardonnay: The flowering garden at Blais Park along Beach Road in Lake George
  • Riesling: The first balloons blowing up and taking off at the Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival.
  • Pinot Grigio: Boats docked along the Lake George Boardwalk at twilight.
  • Fireworks Red Merlot: Spectacular fireworks bursting above Lake George
  • Barbera: The night lights of boats waiting for the 4th of July fireworks reflect on Lake George .
  • Red Barn (Cabernet Sauvignon): One of many picturesque red barns that dot Washington County .
